This guide explains who we are, the services we provide, how we're paid, and what to do if you're not happy with our service.
This Credit Guide provides you with information about National Direct Finance (Vic) Pty Ltd, the services we offer, how we're paid, and how to make a complaint if you're not satisfied. You should read this guide before proceeding with an application.
National Direct Finance (Vic) Pty Ltd (as trustee for the MSJ Investment Trust, ACN 162 590 427) is an authorised credit representative (No. 442329) of Australian Credit Licence No. 384428, held by COG Compliance Services Pty Ltd (ABN 29 117 660 938, ACN 117 660 938).
We arrange finance across a panel of lenders. This includes consumer credit covered by this Credit Guide — car, caravan, marine, and motorbike finance, personal loans, home loans (via referral), and novated leases — as well as commercial and business-purpose finance, including equipment finance, business & cashflow finance, and fitout finance, which fall outside the NCCP Act. A chattel mortgage may fall under either category depending on whether the asset is for personal or business use.
As an authorised credit representative of Australian Credit Licence No. 384428, we're authorised to engage in the following credit activities under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (NCCP Act):
This authorisation covers:
Commercial and business-purpose finance — including equipment finance, business & cashflow finance, and fitout finance — is commercial lending and falls outside the NCCP Act. It isn't covered by this authorisation and isn't required to be disclosed in this Credit Guide.
We're paid commission by the credit provider when your loan settles — we don't receive commission if you don't proceed. Commission typically ranges from 0% to 5%, depending on the type of finance, calculated on the net amount financed plus GST. We also have volume bonus arrangements with most of the credit providers we deal with, which may result in additional commission if volume targets with that provider are met. If you'd like a detailed estimate of the commission we'd be paid for your specific application, we'll provide this to you before you lodge it.
In some cases, your enquiry may come to us via a referral from a non-regulated third party — for example, an accountant, financial planner, or motor dealer. Where that's the case, we may pay a referral fee to that party. If we do, they should already have told you about it — and either way, we'll disclose the fee (or a reasonable estimate) in your Proposal Disclosure Document, or you can simply ask us and we'll tell you how much was paid and how it was calculated.
A fee may be payable by you to us. This fee is payable once, and only if you enter into the Credit Contract — it's not payable if you don't proceed. There's no set fee, as it can vary by contract, contract type, product, or lender.
As an authorised credit representative, we're committed to meeting responsible lending obligations by ensuring any credit product we recommend is suitable for your financial situation and objectives. This involves:
We collect and handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, including information provided during the application process and information obtained from credit reporting bodies.
At National Direct Finance, our aim is to provide superior service — but if something goes wrong, we want to know about it and have the chance to fix it. We recommend first speaking with the person you originally dealt with to see if the matter can be resolved directly.
If you still feel it's unresolved, you can escalate it to our Dispute Resolution Officer:
Please clearly explain the issue and the outcome you're seeking — we'll contact you if further information is needed. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, we'll respond within 30 days of your initial contact. If we can't resolve it within that time, we'll tell you why, and give you a date you can expect a decision by.
If we can't reach agreement, you can refer the complaint to our ASIC-approved External Dispute Resolution scheme, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) — a free, independent service.
Time limits may apply — check the AFCA website for what applies to your circumstances.
